Big East Bar Progression?

Unread postby Russ » Sun Feb 17, 2008 6:01 pm

Does anyone know what the bar progression will be for the women's and men's pole vault this weekend at the Big East Indoor Meet at the Armory? Last year it was 3.30 m, 3.45 m, 3.60 m, and 3.70 m for the women.

It seems to me that this is the type of info that ought to be readily available somewhere. I checked the Big East "Championship Central" webpage, but perhaps I just didn't look in the right place.

Thanks.

They generaly start at or one height below the qualifying standard and then progress by 15cm. At least that is what they did for guys last year.

Guys qualifying is 4.35 ( the last 2 years they went 4.20, 4.35, 4.50, 4.65, 4.80)

Girls qualifying is 3.40 ( but the last 2 years they went 3.30, 3.45. ect)

Hey VautMarq26,

Do you know if they actually will post a progression and start list on the web in advance? If so do you know when & where that info might be available?

Thanks,
Russ

I have no idea how the Big East works, but a lot of times that info is not given out until the coaches meeting the day before.

Thank you. That'd be terrific. My wife and I will be driving down on Sat. morning to watch. Good luck with your vaulters!

I e-mailed the Sports Information Dept. at the Big East and asked them. They just sent me this response. Boy, I'll tell you, I'm very impressed with the thoroughness and clarity of their response. It's REALLY nice when people do their jobs so well. Go Big East!

The seeding committee will affirm the jump progressions for both the m/w
HJ & PV at its seeding meeting this coming Thursday, Feb 21.
The committee reviews both the BIG EAST Performance Lists and the NCAA descending order lists to ensure the most equitable progressions are
available for our student-athletes.
This is the standard practice for both the indoor and outdoor
championships.
The progressions will be listed on the heat sheets, which will be posted
on our championship central web page after the seeding meeting has
concluded (approx. 10pm on Thurs).
