Continuing the Journey...

Unread postby AP » Sun Jun 01, 2008 11:33 am

This post is for those of you that are considering following in the footsteps of other great vaulters had to chose before making the leap....

To continue on this journey after college and truly reaching your potential. You don't have to be great...yet. Imagine if Jeff Hartwig, Justing Norberg, Gio Lanaro, Mark Hollis, Andree Pickens, Erin Asay (those that were not considered world class coming out of college) hadn't made the leap.

I made the leap 4 years ago and passed on those opportunities of chasing money in the Finance world. It's not about money. It is about recognizing your gifts, your commitment to yourself, and the journey this universe is willing to offer you.

That said I thought I'd post a few vital considerations to the future Olympic Hopefuls out there.

1. Environment- Find the coach, training partners, facilities, and area of the country that you can see yourself succeeding in.

2. Take care of the money issue- find a job that is aligned with your studies that will take care of rent, food, bills, and travelling expenses

3. Balance- family, friends, coach, work, and money. Not being able to pull this off is a sure fire way off of pricing yourself out of your dreams.
