WITF0702: Katelin Rains Named NCC Athlete of the Week
12/11/07
Sioux Falls, S.D. – The office of the North Central Conference announced Tuesday that Minnesota State University junior pole vaulter Katelin Rains (Spring Lake Park, Minn.) has been named NCC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the MSU Pre-Season Open Saturday, December 8, at Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University.

Rains set a new NCAA record in the pole vault, as she cleared 14-0 1/2 to erase her own record of 14-0 she set at last season’s NCAA Championships.

Rains claimed North Central Conference Outstanding Women’s Athlete for Indoor Track a season ago, on her way to an NCAA Individual Title, and the NCC Title. This is the seventh time Rains has won an Athlete of the Week distinction during her career, including five during last year’s indoor season.

The Maverick track and field squads are next in action Saturday, January 12, as they take part in the MSU Alumni Open at Myers Field House.
