Top performances at South Eastern European Countries Youth Games

the South Eastern European Countries Youth Games.

The inaugural South Eastern European Countries Youth Games, held from 18-20 October in the Kaftanzoglion Stadium of Thessaloniki, were a huge success, with several moments of truly exciting athletics.

The games presented a top level competition, with no less than eight medallists from the 2007 World Youth Championships in Ostrava, in addition to a dozen more finalists.

Ivana Španovic from Serbia won the girls' Long Jump, her best effort being just 1 cm short of her lifetime best, while the rain and cold on the final day of competition saw 2005 World Youth Pole Vault champion and Ostrava silver medallist, Ekateríni Stefanídi, call it a day after a modest 3.30m clearance.
