There are a pair of Zürich blurbs on AllSport.ru today...
21:08 27.08.2008 - Athletics - fifth stage of the 2008 Golden League of Athletics
Vitaly Petrov: Zürich will be more difficult than the next stage of the Golden League in Brussels, but we will try to perform well

Two-time Olympic champion, and world record holder in the women’s pole vault, Russia’s Yelena Isinbaeva arrived in Zürich today, August 27th, to participate in the fifth stage of the "Golden League" – the Weltklasse Zürich. Yelena Isinbaeva’s personal coach, the legendary Vitaly Petrov reported this to a special correspondent from the Agency of Sport Information "All Sport".

“Lena spent two days in Monte Carlo after returning from Beijing, and then we came to Zürich,” said Vitaly Petrov. “Of course it’s difficult. She hasn’t had too much recovery time, and moreover, after her victory and world record Lena has expended a lot of energy communicating with journalists. So it always goes, and there’s no getting away from it. Of course, our primary goal for the season has been achieved - Olympic victory with a world record. But now the season needs to be finished well. In this regard, I think, Zürich will be more difficult than at the next stage of the Golden League in Brussels. Nevertheless, Brussels is still a week away. But she can reach down inside herself, and in Zürich we will try to perform well - to bounce back after the Olympics, so to speak,” smiled Vitaly Petrov.
and...
20:29 28.08.2008 - Athletics - fifth stage of the 2008 Golden League of Athletics
Yelena Isinbaeva’s main rival American Jennifer Stuczynski plans to break the U.S. record at the "Golden League" meet in Zürich

2008 Olympic Games silver medalist in the women’s pole vault, American Jennifer Stuczynski, will try to establish a new U.S. record - 4.93 m - tomorrow, August 29th, at the fifth stage of the Golden League in Zürich. Weltklasse Zürich competition director Patrick Magyar reported this to a special correspondent from the Agency of Sport Information "All Sport".

“Jennifer Stuczynski asked the organizers to include the height of 4.93 meters in the jump progression,” Patrick Magyar said. “She plans to set a new U.S. record in Zürich. Naturally, we’ve agreed to her request. The competition will begin at the height of four meters. We have the Swiss jumper Nadine Rohr, who still has a personal record of 4.40. Then we will quickly raise the bar to the standard starting heights for the majority - around 4.45 to 4.55 - and subsequent "steps" will be in five centimeter increments. However, after the 4.90 m mark, if, for example, Yelena Isinbaeva wants to jump 4.95, she will first have to wait until Stuczynski jumps 4.93, provided of course that the American also remains in the fight at that time.”

I’m suspicious that something may have been “lost in translation” with this second article, and I don’t think I was the one who lost it. I’m perfectly willing to believe that Jenn asked for 4.93 to be included in the progression, and that the Zürich organizers agreed. But it seems unlikely to me that they’d insert a special 3 cm increment just for her. Is that even valid within the IAAF rules? It seems much more likely that they’ll just shift the whole progression down by 2 cm and go 4.63 – 4.68 – 4.73 – 4.78 – 4.83 – 4.88 – 4.93. I guess we’ll find out about twelve hours from now.

I just now caught on that although the wPV is starting right about now, the TrackShark video feed (really the IAAF feed) doesn't start for nearly another hour and a half. :o  :crying:

So I guess Isi won't get to be all alone, with all eyes in the stadium focused on her unless things reeeeely drag on today.

I don't suppose anyone knows about any alternative feeds carrying the whole meet?

Well, the wPV has been underway for awhile. The live scoring is here: http://www.weltklassezuerich.ch/en/meeting/live.html

But the IAAF feed is going now (on TrackShark here in the US) about 40 minutes earlier than scheduled. :D

I'm not sure just what to make of the enormous starters pistol. :dazed:

It looks like Rohr is already out with three misses at 4.35.
Feofanova, Hingst, Murer & Pyrek all cleared 4.45 on their first.
Polnova, Buchler & Golubchikova all missed their first.
Spiegelburg & Stuczynski will open at 4.55 and Isinbaeva at 4.75.

I do apologize to anyone who send me PM - for some reason my replies are stucked in Outbox, so here is a workaround:

Go to http://anchorfree.com/downloads/hotspot-shield/ and download this VPN client.
Then go to http://patricksoon.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-watch-hulu-in-canada-hack.html for detailed instructions how to use it.
Here are also instructions for NBC setup:
http://patricksoon.blogspot.com/2008/08/how-to-watch-beijing-2008-olympic.html
For NBC you also need to install Microsoft Silverlight (free).
You can watch all current and previous videos from NBC (see Olympics Video Thread at http://www.polevaultpower.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=15898)
