It will be nice when Jack lock's in on a couple of poles for a while to be more consistent. He keeps going thru them. He is now on a 5 meter 13.1 going to a 12.8. Then to 5.10 meter poles. Should not complain, it only means he is getting better. I look for big PR's in the outdoor season from a longer run.

University of Washington senior Scott Roth, a graduate of Granite Bay High School, won the NCAA Indoor Championship in the pole vault for the second year in a row.

Roth, nursing an injured right hamstring, cleared 18 feet, ½ inch Friday at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium at Texas A&M, according to the website gohuskies.com.

One vault from being eliminated, Roth cleared 17-6½ and then made 17-8½. He cleared 17-10½ on his first attempt, one of four vaulters to clear that height, and cleared 18-½ on his first try. Ben Peterson of Minnesota made it on his second try and missed three attempts at 18-2½.

With the injury, Roth told the website he didn’t expect to compete in the meet.

“So that made the feel of the meet entirely different,” Roth said. “I just went out there and had fun, was relaxed and talking to people, so it was a really enjoyable competition for me.”
